The Sept. meeting will be on Sept. 11, Tuesday
evening at 7:30pm. It will be held in the Lockheed auditorium in Palo
Alto as usual. (Bldg 202 on Hannover behind Page Mill Rd.)
This is very important to attend as we need to organize the tasks and logistics
for the Microwave Update Conference that we are sponsoring. Will Jensby will
lead this discussion.
Following that discussion, we will have reports on the ARRL 10GHz and Up
contest first weekend. Gary AD6FP will lead the duscussion with suggestions
of coordination and strategies for better results in N. Calif on the 2nd weekend
which will be coming right at the end of the same week as this meeting.
We need help with carpooling vehicles for the Stanford Dish tour. We are allowed
only a few vehicles on the private road leading to the dish so we need the use of
vans and SUVs with capablility of carrying many passengers.

The Road to San Benito by Brian Yee, W6BYHi guys,
Just in case you get the urge to go to San Benito Mountain someday, here is a look
at the terrain and the town of New Idria. New Idria used to be a mercury mining town
(where the name of "San Jose Mercury News" came from) and still has many reminders
of that era. The ground is extremely polluted (the streams run red for miles) and there is
also asbestos in the surrounding hills. Aside from this, and the guys running around
in the hills with rifles and guns, San Benito is a very good radio spot. Bring a good
vehicle, because while the roads are not steep, there are quite a few deep ruts in
the dirt road.
73,
Brian W6BY
